Zabbix-vs-PRTG
Zabbix is a 100% free and open source product, with closed development. As a private company with no investors, there is no incentive to make as much revenue as possible, they prefer to build the best monitoring tool available.
Paessler is owned by a investor and as such sales/revenue driven. Their product is not free, nor open source. The UI/visualisation is really nice however the actual monitoring options are a bit limited and not as flexible as Zabbix
